How to Setup Wifi Range Extender?

If you are not getting enough wifi range coverage in your home or workplace, then you do not have to worry about it.

Configuring range extenders can be a complicated process but don’t worry about it this guide will teach you how to set up a Wifi Range extender at your home or anywhere else.

Methods to Setup the WiFi Range Extender

Method 1: Using the Laptop

Power up the wifi range extender and your PC and follow these steps

Step 1:

Open the Internet and networking settings then select wifi or click the networking icon in the taskbar

Step 2:

find your wifi range extender wifi and connect your Pc with it.

Step 3:

Once you establish a connection to your extender now type “View Network Connections” in the search bar and open it.

Step 4:

Double click on the wifi icon and then click on details. Now note the IP Address for your computer.

Step 5:

Type the Ip address in your browser and hit enter.

Step 6:

Now we will land on the wifi extender setup page and enter a password to protect access to this page.

Step 7:

After you set up the password for the page then it will search for your Wifi network. Select your home network and enter the password of your Wifi and confirm it to connect it.

Step 8:

Now select your wifi 2.4 GHz bandwidth or 5GHz and apply the settings and wait for the router to restart.

Method 2: Using the mobile application

You can even configure the Wifi range extender by using your mobile phone and it won’t take long. This method is actually more simple and easy. So without wasting any further time let’s get started:

Step 1:

Open your Application PlayStore and search “TP-Link Tether”.

Step 2:

Download this application and open it.

Step 3:

Sign up with your Gmail to set up a profile. You will receive a verification code on your Gmail just confirm it to verify your profile and then you will be good to go.

Step 4:

Log in to your newly created profile.

Step 5:

Now go to your mobile wifi and search for extender and connect with it.

Note it may show no internet access and ask you to switch back but keep your phone connected with the Wifi extender network

Step 6:

Open the application again and refresh the search for my devices. Now when you see your device listed here click on it.

Step 7:

After you select the device startup page will open and you enter a password for this Wifi Extender.

Step 8:

Now it will open a list of all the available wifi now select your wifi and just enter its password

Step 9:

Now it will promote to enable 5GHz bandwidth if you have it and if you do not have it simply click next and it will apply your settings.

Step 10:

Now it will ask you if your location is good to place this Wifi Range Extender.

Simply select yes and you will be good to go and then a Congratulations page will appear.

This means you have successfully configured your Wifi Range Extender using your mobile application.

Method 3: Using the WPS Method

 Wi-Fi Protected Setup or more commonly known as WPS.

It is a type of wireless security protocol standard that enables you to connect to your wifi without entering the password.

This happens just with a click of a button.

The WPS method is the easiest and it takes almost no time, but your router and Wifi Range extender must have this WPS feature to work.

Follow the steps mentioned below to connect your Extender with your router using WPS Method.

Step 1:

Locate the WPS buttons on the Router and Wifi range extender as well.

Step 2:

Click the WPS button on the router and the extender at the same time but keep them close to each other.

They will start to search for each other and the light on the modem will be blinking first as it connects with the extender and then will get stable(no blinking)
